In December 2011, I requested that the DWP send reasons for the claim rejection. I had no response.
Between December – April, I requested this information several times by letter and by telephone. I had no response.
In March 2012 I wrote a letter of complaint into not receiving reasons for rejection. I had no response.
In May, following intervention from Chris Grayling MP, I was finally sent these documents. SIX MONTHS of stress and wasted time and money.
I sent an appeal to the rejection of the claim. As I had authority to act on my partner’s behalf, I assumed that her signature was not required on the appeal. I telephoned the DWP 2 months later to be told that the appeal was ‘awaiting a signature’ and was not being processed. Noone had bothered to tell though, that a signature was required!
When I complained to the Chief Operating officer, he said that all of these errors were due to “human error”
