A little while ago, I posted about the Operational Excellence Unit being deceptive to my MP and also to Mark Hoban – they were asked 2 specific questions and gave erroneous answers to each. Apparently I jumped to conclusions and it all makes sense when it is explained to my tiny brain…
This is the response I received:-
Well stupid me for being so ready to jump to conclusions. I would have expected the “Operational Excellence Unit” to have actually checked the facts that were requested rather than to ignore a direct question about certain telephone calls on certain dates but refer only to a failed call on a different day.
Also the ‘urgency’ was only due to the fact that the “Operational Excellence Unit” had ignored 2 previous requests.
Yes I have to admit it was – It said:
However at no point did it state that this had been refused when this is the question which was directly asked of the “Operational Excellence Unit” by the Ministerial Correspondence Team.
The letter goes on to say:-
Lets leave aside that all 3 reports have been declared unfit for purpose for the moment. The letter clearly stated that it was the January 2012 report which was being spoken of yet the “Operational Excellence Team” easily explain this away by saying they thought that they had been asked to comment on a different report !
At no point did the Operational Excellence Unit mislead me, they mislead 2 MPs (perhaps this mistake in their wording was intentional ?)… Perhaps I am being a conspiracy theorist, but I believe that there IS an incentive to lie to my MP and Mark Hoban. To cover up the astounding previous negligence. It was only thanks to a SAR request that these documents were dug up and otherwise noone would have been aware of them.
It also certainly does not seem that there is a great “incentive” to provide “clear and accurate” information as the member of staff who responded clearly did so in a ridiculously unprofessional and negligent manner.
Also, the “Operational Excellence Unit” has apologised to me for the confusion… well isn’t that nice. 5 months later and they have not bothered to correct the information sent to Gareth Thomas MP, nor Mark Hoban never mind apologise to them for misleading them.
